The Brownies recently celebrated their 40th birthday (Brownies overall has been around for 110 years, but this Unit has been in existence for 40 years – initially in St Davids before moving to The Mint) The Brownies learnt some facts about 1984, played a game using Brownie badges from 40 years ago and found out what Brown Owl did as a Brownie 40 years ago! (she was a Brownie in Gloucestershire). We then played some games and had a cake and some party food and drinks. We also sang Happy Birthday to ourselves.

We were joined for the party by a few older girls who used to be Brownies in our Unit, before moving onto Guides and one is now a Ranger (which is the section of Girlguiding for girls 14+ years old), and they brought in their Brownie badges to show the current Brownies and they shared some memories of things they remembered doing when they were Brownies”
